Emergency Department

The Mountrail County Medical Center emergency department staff provides patient care 24/7 by on-call ER providers. They can provide ER service for emergency medical events such as:

  • Burns
  • Chemical exposure
  • First response stroke center
  • Asthma attacks
  • Chest pain
  • Lacerations
  • Fractures
  • Level V Trauma Certified
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

The Mountrail County Medical Center is a designated  “Acute Stroke-Ready Hospital” and is able to provide the necessary imaging and medication to treat patients with stroke symptoms.

Any needed labs, X-Ray or CT Scans can be done on-site along with assistance for any medical questions by Avel eCARE Telemedicine.

Nursing Staff

The nursing staff in the ED are trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, CPR, Trauma Certified and other procedures necessary in an emergency situation.

Triage

Triage is the process of determining the priority of patients treatments based on the severity of their conditions. Patients are quickly moved into a triage room for immediate assessment. Based on the nursing assessment and acuity of current patients, some patients may be placed back in the waiting room. This is done to ensure that all patients receive triage in a timely manner to treat any emergency conditions.

Ground Transportation

If a transfer is needed, ground transportation is provided by local EMS partners.

Helipad

Patients of MCMC will benefit from air transport to surrounding medical centers via NorthStar and Valley Med.
