Balloon Release Fund Raiser for One of MCMC’s Own
Many of you who have come into the T.H. Reiarson Rural Health Clinic for a doctor’s visit were greeted by a friendly smile while being brought to an exam room by Jamie Wollesen. In July of 2016, this mother of a two year old and five year old was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. She immediately went to Mayo for chemotherapy for over a month.Jamie is now back with her little family and taking chemo treatment in Minot. But in early October she will have to go back down to Mayo for a bone marrow transplant. She will then have to stay for another two months in Mayo while she recovers.
MCMC has been trying to help the family out as much as possible with all the unplanned expenses that have arisen while she is down in Mayo and away from her family, unable to work. From selling tee shirts, orange wristbands and key chains (orange is the cancer awareness color for leukemia) to donating a meal or to the Go Fund Me account that is setup for Jamie (https://www.gofundme.com/2e4bh2mk).
With September being Leukemia and Lymphoma Awareness Month, we thought it would be fitting to take one more step in helping Jamie and her family out financially.A balloon release is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Friday, September 30th in the T.H. Reiarson Rural Health Clinic parking lot. For each orange balloon released, a prayer for someone who is in need will be tied to the balloon. We are asking community members to participate by calling, emailing or stopping by the clinic with a prayer message and by making a goodwill donation for the Wollesen family prior to the balloon release on September 30th.Or, please join us that morning and fill out your prayer message and release your own balloon. We would love to see as many people as possible come out (and wear orange if you can) to support Jamie. Please contact Lynn Patten with any questions or to leave your prayer message at 628-2424, ext. 102 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.One also can fill out a prayer message and leave a goodwill donation during the MBH Auxiliary Fall Bazaar at the Bethel Home on Sunday, September 25th from 2-4 PM.
